Major backups after multi-vehicle crash on southbound Loop 820 in Fort Worth

Fort Worth Police said multiple lanes of 820 were closed by the Sun Valley exit while crews work to clear the wreckage.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Traffic is backed up for miles near Fort Worth after a major multi-vehicle accident during Friday rush-hour traffic. 

The accident happened around 4 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Loop 820, on the southeastern side of Fort Worth. According to MedStar, the accident involved possibly seven vehicles.

Fort Worth Police said multiple lanes of 820 were closed by the Sun Valley exit while crews work to clear the wreckage.

Aerial video from over the scene showed at least two lanes of traffic getting by, as tow trucks worked to move the vehicles involved. However, traffic appeared to be at nearly a standstill, and was backed up for miles in the area.

So far, there's been no word on what caused the accident. Police have also not said whether anyone was hurt.
