Highway 287 reopen in Fort Worth after repairs for utility pole struck by vehicle

Fort Worth police said the pole was hit at about 11:30 p.m. last night near the intersection of U.S. 287 and Wilbarger Street.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police and TxDOT Fort Worth have confirmed with WFAA that Highway 287 has reopened near Wilbarger Street. Officers had to shut down the north and southbound lanes while Oncor and Spectrum Communications fix a utility pole that was hit by a vehicle late Tuesday night.

Police said the accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 287 and Wilbarger. The crash took out the power for nearby residents and it's not clear when it'll be restored.

Police said the highway's northbound lanes were closed at Wilbarger and the southbound lanes were shut down at East Berry Street. They were expecting those lanes to stay closed until at least 8 a.m. Wednesday, but reported by 6 a.m. that they have since been reopened.

Oncor is there to fix the pole and the damaged wires and Spectrum's working on the fiber optic cables.
