27-year-old man killed in crash on I-30 in Dallas

A fatal crash involving a motorcycle closed down lanes of westbound Interstate 30 near S. Akard Street in Dallas. Lanes have since reopened.

DALLAS — A 27-year-old man was killed in a crash Friday morning on Interstate 30 near S. Akard Street in Dallas. Lanes were closed but were reopened.

The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m., and it involved an 18-wheeler and a motorcycle on westbound I-30, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

The man who was driving the motorcycle died at the scene, officials said. His name has not been released. No arrests were made.

Detectives say that an initial call indicated that an 18-wheeler hit a motorcyclist. When detectives arrived, they were unable to determine if the motorcyclist was struck by an 18 wheeler or another vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

"They are still taking statements from witnesses, reviewing evidence and any video available to try and determine how and or who actually struck the motorcyclist," the sheriff's office said.

Anyone who was a witness may call the Dallas County Sheriff's Office and share any information they have with the Vehicle Crimes Unit.

Hazmat crews worked to clear the roadway after the crash.
