GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Bobcats are state champions once again!

Celina (25-1-3) defeated Boerne (22-2-3), 1-0, on Thursday afternoon at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown, Texas.

This marked the fourth straight appearance in the 4A UIL State tournament for the Bobcats, dating back to the 2021 season. In 2021, Celina fell to Midlothian Heritage, 1-0, in the semifinals that year. Ever since, Celina has been on a dynastic championship run, winning the next three 4A state titles in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Celina's first in the title trilogy came in an intense penalty shootout against Midlothian Heritage, getting revenge on the Jaguars from the year prior. Celina doubled down in 2023 with a dominant 8-1 win over Stephenville.

Celina cruised through the playoffs this season:

  • 3-0 win vs. Sunnyvale
  • 9-0 win vs. Dallas Pinkston
  • 5-2 win vs. Aubrey
  • 2-0 win vs. Jacksonville
  • 1-0 win vs. Frisco Panther Creek
  • 3-1 win vs. Lumberton

The Bobcats should continue their state of dominance, too. Twenty-three of 27 girls on the roster are not seniors, and over half the squad (17 of 27) are currently freshman or sophomores. Eight of Celina's starting 11 in the title game were returning players:

  • Defenders: Sammy Quiroz, junior; Amelia Caughron, freshman
  • Midfielders: Whitney Howington, sophomore; Ryleigh Stifflemire, sophomore; Ashton Lowry, junior
  • Forwards: Hannah Holland, freshman; Taylor McMillan, freshman; Grace Pritchard, junior
