Snow in Amarillo on Thursday.

AMARILLO, Texas — Winter has arrived in Texas, at least in the Panhandle.

While we've had a cold, wet week in North Texas, we haven't seen anything in the way of snow or wintry precipitation.

That's a different story in the Panhandle, about 375 miles northwest of Dallas.

A winter storm hit the Amarillo area Thursday, bringing bands of moderate snowfall into Friday morning. Another round of possible snow could hit the Panhandle on Monday, according to KVII's latest forecast.

Videos posted on social media showed what appeared to be decently heavy snowfall in Amarillo on Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Amarillo was reporting 1-2 inches of snowfall in the area, as snow was still coming down Thursday night. The Weather Service was forecasting up to six inches of snow for areas in the far northern Panhandle, and into Oklahoma.

Love the snow or hate it, you won't have to worry about it in North Texas, at least not on the current forecast.

Here's the update from our team:

A chilly start to the weekend with below normal temps on Saturday. Seasonable, breezy and mostly sunny on Sunday. High temps should get into the 50s both days, following chilly mornings.

Our next storm system moves in on Monday bringing widespread rain and a few storms back to North Texas. Here's a look at the timing, starting Monday morning:

After the Monday rain system, it'll be slightly warmer by next Wednesday and Thursday before some very chilly air moves in for next weekend. Lows could dip into the low 30s and then into the 20s by the following week.
