A man who fired shots at officers during a chase in Fort Worth back in 2022 has been sentenced to 60 years in prison, officials announced Tuesday.
The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office said 25-year-old Eliseo Suarez Jr. was sentenced for aggravated assault against a public servant. Suarez Jr. used a shotgun to fire multiple shots out of a window at police cars during a chase, the DA's office said.
Suarez Jr. was arrested in Haltom City after the vehicle, driven by Jessica Jean Jarvis, led police on a chase from Fort Worth to Haltom City before crashing at 820 and the bridge at 377. Police said Jarvis and Suarez Jr. ran from the vehicle after crashing but were taken into custody shortly after. Two weapons were also recovered from this incident, according to police.
During a news conference that day, Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes praised flock cameras for help in locating the stolen vehicle. Noakes said Suarez Jr. was someone the department had been searching for. Noakes also added the cameras are placed in certain high traffic areas throughout the city and will notify police if it detects a license plate related to a wanted suspect or a stolen vehicle.
Suarez Jr. was arrested for three outstanding felony warrants, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest and unauthorized possession of a firearm by a felon, police said.
Police said Jarvis was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and an out of town warrant. According to court records, Jarvis' case was dismissed in July 2023. Court records also showed a new filing for Jarvis on Tuesday morning, but the specific details of the filing are still unclear.
