‘Heartbroken:’ Billie Eilish skips Texas in upcoming world tour, fans react

Eilish has previously criticized Texas abortion laws, could Lone Star politics be the reason for the exclusion?

DALLAS — Billie Eilish announced dates for her seventh world tour in support of her forthcoming album “Hit Me Hard and Soft” on Monday.

The tour dates span three continents with over 80 stops, but none of them will be in Texas.

Fans decried the exclusion on X and Instagram, with one fan saying  she was “heartbroken.” Eilish is a nine-time Grammy Award-winning artist and the youngest ever two-time Academy Award winner.

The last time Eilish scheduled tour stops in Texas was 2019 when she stopped in Dallas, Houston and Austin City Limits.

The last time Eilish performed in Texas was at Austin City Limits in 2021 where she criticized state leaders for passing a bill that banned abortions as early as six weeks. The festival took place just a month after the so-called Heartbeat Bill went into effect.

“When they made that… a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show,” she said from the stage. “Because I wanted to punish this… place for allowing that to happen here.”

Fans speculated that Eilish's statements at the show could explain why she’s avoided the Lone Star state ever since. Since the 2021 show the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending the constitutional right to abortion. Since then, Texas banned all abortions.

Fans noted that Eilish also skipped Florida, which bans abortions after six weeks. However, she did not exclude Missouri and Georgia, two states that also have restrictive abortion laws.
