DALLAS — Turns out, it wasn't just the Dallas Mavericks who lost on Sunday.
Bad Bunny fans took a bit of an L, too. Or their longstanding plans did, anyway.
With Puerto Rican pop superstar in the building and sitting courtside for Game 4, the Mavs lost 116-111 to the Los Angeles Clippers, tying the series up at two games to two, and guaranteeing a Game 6 in Dallas at the American Airlines Center that would occur on Friday, May 3.
Tickets to that contest went on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday.
One problem: Bad Bunny had already been scheduled to perform at the AAC at the very same time. In October, Live Nation announced that the musician would take the stage at the Mavericks' home arena for back-to-back nights on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4.
But, as regular tenants of the building, it would appear the Mavericks and their NBA obligations get priority on the calendar. While Bad Bunny's Saturday show will continue as planned, his Friday show has been moved up to Thursday, May 2, officials announced on Monday.
All tickets purchased for the Friday show will be honored for the new Thursday date, Live Nation officials told WFAA, adding that all ticketholders will receive direct communications containing information on everything they need to know about the date change.
Additional scheduling conflicts prevented the show from being moved back to Sunday or Monday night.
On Sunday, the Dallas Stars could potentially host a Game 7 contest against the Vegas Golden Knights in their own hotly contested first-round playoff matchup. And on Monday, Bad Bunny is slated to be in New York to attend this year's Met Gala, an event for which he is serving as one of its co-chairs.
This is not the first time a Mavericks playoff run has forced a concert previously scheduled at the American Airlines Center to be postponed. As recently as 2022 -- the last time the Mavs made the playoffs -- a New Kids on the Block concert's date got pushed back because of a Mavericks playoff conflict.
But to those who wondered why Bad Bunny was in the building on Sunday, the answer is now clear. He had a vested interest in the result, and how it would affect his own calendar.
Unfortunately for Mavs and Bad Bunny fans alike, though, things didn't pan out as they'd hoped.
