Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed more than 950 bills into law since the 86th legislative session ended May 27, 2019; he vetoed seven pieces of legislation. June 16 is the last day the governor can veto any bill. A new fundraising period immediately gets underway. Texas Tribune reporter Ayan Mittra joined host Jason Whitely to discuss which legislators need to show political strength to scare off potential opponents. Whitely and Mittra also talked about Governor Abbott’s allegation that people lied about Texas’ maternal mortality rate.
