Winter weather forecast: freezing morning gives way to warmer afternoon

Temps will warm through the weekend with no more worries about freezing temps after Saturday morning.

Watch out for black ice or slick spots if you are driving around Saturday morning as temps to start the day will be well below freezing..

By Saturday afternoon temps will warm well into the 40s with no worries about ice-covered roads.

High temps Saturday will be well above freezing.

Saturday night into Sunday will stay above freezing and then Sunday afternoon will be in the mid to upper 50s. Any remaining snow will likely be gone before the weekend is done.

Historic Cold

Records continue to be shattered with this historic cold snap.  

A couple of the most notable records are:

Tying the 2nd coldest temperature ever recorded in the D-FW area with a temp of -2° Tuesday morning. The only time it has been that cold was 1949. And the only time it has been colder was in 1899 (-8°).

Also the 3-day stretch from February 14th thru the 16th looks like it was the coldest 3-day stretch on record.
