Severe weather timeline: Storm timing and chances for Monday-Wednesday

Storm chances return to start the workweek with several days of potential severe storms.

DALLAS — Here we go again...

Storms look like they will return to North Texas on Monday, Tuesday, and possibly into Wednesday.

The pattern looks supportive of severe weather on those days as well.

Here's a breakdown of the timing:

Monday

A strong "cap" will be in place in Monday. This COULD prevent storms from forming during the afternoon into evening. IF the cap breaks, any storms that form would be isolated. We may only have 1-3 storms in North Texas if the cap breaks.

Coverage of storms will be low, but any storms that form have a very good chance at being severe.

Large to very large hail is the main threat. Damaging wind gusts would be possible as well, and the tornado threat is low, but not zero.

Tuesday

Tuesday looks to be a better chance for storms and severe storms in all of North Texas.

Once again, a "cap" will be in place during the day, but scattered thunderstorms look like they will form during the late afternoon into evening hours.

These storms look to be supercell storms and would become severe once they form. While not everyone will see storms, anyone that does see storms will likely see a severe storms.

Main threats will be large to very hail and damaging winds, but tornadoes are possible as well with these storms.

Wednesday

A dryline and cold front will be sweeping through North Texas on Wednesday. This will cause any storms and the severe threat to quickly move east during the day.

However, storms will be possible during the morning into the afternoon hours from D-FW to the east. Storms during this time could be severe with hail and winds the main threat. The tornado threat is low, but not zero for most of North Texas.

Any storms will be well east of North Texas during the mid to late afternoon into the evening.
