Toys "R" Us is now open at DFW Airport

The beloved toy store has been bouncing back from its 2017 bankruptcy with plans to open more brick-and-mortar stores.

DALLAS — A piece of childhood is now open in a North Texas airport just in time for the holiday season.

Toys "R" Us announced on Monday that it launched its first ever airport store at DFW Airport.

Travelers can find the store if they're in Terminal A. It won't be hard to find with a 3D Geoffrey the Giraffe sculpture at the front of the store.

Customers should also expect a selection of top toys and games along with demonstration tables for hands-on play, according to a news release from DFW Airport.

According to the airport, Toys "R" Us is partnering with Duty Free Americas to launch the new store.

"Beloved by millions of families worldwide, Duty Free Americas will continue to play an integral role in the expansion of Toys "R" Us travel retail stores in the region," said Jarome Falic, CEO of Duty Free Americas.

Toys "R" Us has been making a comeback since filing for bankruptcy in 2017 (anyone else remember that heartbreaking picture of Geoffrey waving goodbye?).

The business was eventually liquidated then sold WHP Global in 2021. Since then, the new parent company has been rolling out new initiatives for the brand.

In 2021, they opened a flagship store in New Jersey. After the first flagship store, Toys "R" Us partnered with Macy's to open shops inside 452 of the department store's locations.

WHP announced in September that they were looking to bring back brick-and-mortar Toys "R" Us stores. The parent company aims to start opening 24 flagship stores in 2024.

In addition to launching more airport stores, WHP is also planning to open Toy "R" Us shops on cruise lines.
