ARLINGTON, Texas — The 2024 WNBA regular season schedule is here, and the Dallas Wings will tip off their season against the Chicago Sky on May 15.

This will be the Wings' second season under head coach Latricia Trammell, who led the team to a franchise-best 22 wins and its first WNBA Semifinals since the franchise moved to Dallas-Fort Worth in 2016.

In a promo released for the schedule drop, three young Dallas fans say what we’re all thinking – that it’s time to hang a championship banner in Texas.

As the three young fans, comically give their rundown of what Coach Trammell needs to do to get them a ring in 2024, WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes steps in to acknowledge that there are already four championship banners in Houston from back when she played for the Comets.

But Swoopes also agreed with their sentiment: “It’s time for another championship in Texas,” she says.

You got this, Coach T!

Dallas and the rest of the teams in the WNBA will each play a total of 40 regular season games this year (20 at home, and 20 away).

The season will run from mid-May through the third week of September -- with a slight change from how things have run in the past. This year, the WNBA will build in a break for about a month after July 17 for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The WNBA will then resume its regular season on Aug. 16.

2024 Dallas Wings schedule highlights

First (and longest) road trip

This will run May 21 through June 2 with games vs. the Atlanta Dream (May 21), Phoenix Mercury (May 25), Los Angeles Sparks (May 26), Connecticut Sun (May 31) and Minnesota Lynx (June 2).

Longest homestand

From Aug. 25 through Sept. 3 the Wings will host games vs. the Los Angeles Sparks (Aug. 25), Las Vegas Aces (Aug. 27), Minnesota Lynx (Aug. 30), Indiana Fever (Sept. 1) and Washington Mystics (Sept. 3).

Defending champs

Dallas will play the defending WNBA Champions, the Las Vegas Aces, at home on Wednesday, June 5, after returning from their five-game road trip and will end the regular season against the Aces in Las Vegas on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Commissioner’s Cup:

All games played during the two-week period from June 1-13 will serve as Commissioner’s Cup qualifying games.

Teams will play either three Commissioner’s Cup games at home and two on the road, or two at home and three on the road. All Commissioner’s Cup games will be a part of the team’s 40-game schedule and will count toward the team’s regular-season win-loss record.

The team from each conference with the top record in Commissioner’s Cup games will then compete for a $500,000 prize pool in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship, which will be played on Tuesday, June 25, at the arena of the team with the best record in Cup play.

Is this the Wings' year?

The Wings are entering their ninth season in DFW this year. After a record-breaking 2023 led by stars Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally, the team will look to capitalize on its success and focus on getting a ring in 2024.
