Mayor Johnson betting on Dallas sports (again). This time, we've got chocolate on the line.

The latest bet from the Dallas mayor wagers some sweets from a southern Dallas chocolate shop.

DALLAS — Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has added to his mayoral bet portfolio.

Ahead of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, Johnson tweeted his challenge to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

"So, @MayorFrey, how about we sweeten the deal for the @NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals with a friendly wager? In the unlikely event the @Timberwolves win, I will send you some local Dallas sweets from Dude, Sweet Chocolate! What sweet treats will you be sending Dallas when the @dallasmavs win? #TexasBasketball," Johnson said.

Mayor Frey gladly obliged, putting a local Minneapolis sweet treat staple on the table.

“We all know what happens when mayors bet on games…But, no need to wager here — we know the @Timberwolves are coming out on top. Jokes aside, thanks for organizing this, @Johnson4Dallas. If the @dallasmavs win, we’ll send you MPLS' finest from Dancing Bear Chocolate,” Frey responded

Johnson is no stranger to these friendly online wagers with mayors of opposing sports teams. Johnson just won his bet on the Dallas Stars from the previous round against Denver Mayor Mike Johnston. The wager for that series was themed belt buckles. Johnson also bet against Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker over the TCU-SMU 'Iron Skillet' rivalry last year, as well as the Tampa mayor over the Cowboys-Buccaneers playoff game in January 2023.

“It’s exciting to have another friendly sports wager with a fellow mayor, and I love that Mayor Frey is keen to play along,” said Johnson. “Betting on Dallas sports teams is always the best bet! The Mavericks are the best in the game, and I look forward to trying Dancing Bear Chocolate from Mayor Frey! Let’s go, Mavs!”

Johnson's overall betting record against other mayors remains unclear, but the Mavs and Stars are serving him pretty well as of late!
