FORT WORTH, Texas — The 2-year-old boy who nearly drowned in a Fort Worth swimming pool early this month has made a “miraculous recovery” and was reunited this week with those who saved his life, police said.

The little boy named Rowdy spent one week in the hospital recovering from major trauma before going home to his family.

On May 1, officers from the Fort Worth Police Department’s West Division responded to a water emergency call regarding a boy who had drowned in a pool. When they arrived they saw Rowdy's mother performing CPR.

Officer Davachi jumped into action and took over chest compressions while Sgt. Brady assisted with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Fort Worth Fire and MedStar arrived a short time later and took Rowdy to the hospital in grave condition. First responders said there was little expectation that Rowdy would survive through the night.

However, a week later the department received what they called 'miraculous news' that Rowdy had fully recovered. To celebrate, Officer Davachi along with the entire team who responded to the call, returned to see Rowdy and his family for the first time since the near-fatal accident.

After photos, hugs, and high-fives with his rescuers, Rowdy and his two sisters got to explore the police cars and also received teddy bears from the department.
