Driver arrested after fatally hitting pedestrian, Fort Worth police say

FORT WORTH, Texas — A pedestrian was killed in north Fort Worth after being hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning, police said. 

A woman was in traffic at the intersection of North West 28th Street and Prospect Avenue in north Fort Worth when she was struck by a car, Fort Worth police said in a statement. 

Officers responded to the incident around 12:26 a.m. Saturday May 25. The victim, later identified as 55-year-old Rosa Barron, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

The driver was later identified as 23-year-old Alexia Monica Lopez. She was arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle. 

Fort Worth Police Department traffic detectives are investigating the incident, police said.
