Programming note: 'Will Trent', 'The Rookie' to air overnight on WFAA due to Mavs-Hornets game

The Dallas Mavericks' Tuesday night matchup against the Charlotte Hornets will tip off at 6 p.m. on WFAA following 'ABC World News Tonight with David Muir'.

DALLAS — TEGNA and the Dallas Mavericks are partnering to locally broadcast a number of the team's remaining games in the 2023-2024 NBA season

This will lead to a handful of changes for some WFAA programming.

Tonight, the Dallas Mavericks' matchup against the Charlotte Hornets will tip off at 6 p.m. following "ABC World News Tonight with David Muir" at 5:30 p.m.

This means that episodes of "Will Trent" and "The Rookie" that were originally slated to broadcast at 7 and 8 p.m. this evening will instead air overnight on WFAA on Wednesday -- at 1:11 a.m. and 2:11 a.m., respectively -- for the late-night crowds, and those wanting to set up recordings on their DVR-enabled devices.

Meanwhile, "The Good Doctor" will air as scheduled at 9 p.m. on WFAA's main broadcast signal as part of ABC's regular Tuesday night programming. If the Mavs game goes past 9 p.m., WFAA will join "The Good Doctor" in progress. This week's entire "The Good Doctor" episode will air overnight at 3:11 a.m. either way.

Antenna users can still watch "Will Trent" and "The Rookie" as they air live in their usual Tuesday night timeslots on WFAA's 8.2 over-the-air broadcast signal.

All of these shows will also be available for streaming live on Hulu starting on Friday morning.

Viewers can follow this link for directions on where to purchase an antenna and for detailed instructions on how to make sure their TV picks up those 8.2 channel broadcasts.

After tonight's game, the Mavericks have two more games on WFAA through the end of the regular season:

  • Wed., Apr. 10 @ Miami Heat, 6:30 p.m. CT
  • Fri. Apr. 12 vs Detroit Pistons, 7:30 p.m. CT
