Man with knife outside North Texas bar tackled by security, police say

The call originally came in as a stabbing, police said. When officers got to the scene, they found a man slashing tires and stabbing patio furniture.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — Employees at a bar in North Richland Hills tackled a person who was stabbing patio furniture, banging on windows and slashing tires in the parking lot early Tuesday morning, according to police.

The North Richland Hills Police Department said officers initially responded to a stabbing call at 12:45 a.m. When they got to the scene, they said they came in contact with the person who had been slashing tires and patio furniture in the parking lot outside of The Hideout on Bedford Euless Road.

According to police on scene, the person had been tackled by employees who then took away the knife and held him down until officers arrived.

Police said the person appeared to be in crisis and was transported to the hospital for help.

No other person was injured or transported, police said.
