Suspect wanted in connection to deadly shooting outside Frisco Walmart, police say

Officers responded around 9:30 p.m. to a shooting in the area of the Walmart near Preston Road and Hickory Street, according to a police news release.

FRISCO, Texas — The Frisco Police Department is searching for a suspect wanted in a deadly shooting outside a Walmart Wednesday night. And police say, the shooting was random.

Frisco PD says at about 9:34 p.m. officers were called to the Walmart located at the northwest corner of Preston Road and Hickory Street. Callers told 911 dispatch they heard gunshots and at least one person had been hit.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found one person in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a second victim nearby on Hickory Street also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment, but despite life-saving measures, one of those victims passed away from their injuries. The condition of the second victim is unknown, but police said they are currently stable. Family has identified the victim who died: 62-year-old Dung Doan. WFAA spoke with Doan's family, who are mourning his loss.

Police said officers searched and secured the area in hopes of finding the suspect, in what they initially believed to be an isolated incident. However, upon further investigation, police determined the shooting to be random.

No arrests have been made, and now the police are turning to the public for help.
