Robbery suspect shot in gunfire exchange with Dallas officers, police say

Dallas police officers responded to a robbery in progress call in the 2900 block of West Wheatland Road.

DALLAS — A suspect of a robbery at a Dallas business was shot during an exchange of gunfire with officers overnight Sunday, according to the Dallas Police Department (DPD).

DPD said the officers responded at approximately 12:45 a.m. to the 2900 block of West Wheatland Road for a robbery in progress call. When officers got to the scene, they found multiple suspects robbing a business, DPD said. As the officers approached, the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired at them, according to DPD.

The officers returned fire, and the suspects ran from the scene. The officers ran after the suspects and gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and officers for a second time. One of the suspects was struck and first aid was given at the scene, DPD said. The suspect was transported to the hospital in stable condition, according to police.

No officers were injured in the incident. The status of the other robbery suspects remained unclear Sunday morning.
