A book for a treat: Get free frozen yogurt the entire month of February

Monster Yogurt in Dallas and Richardson is giving away free treats in exchange for books.

DALLAS — A good book can give you a lot, even frozen yogurt.

For the entire month of February, Monster Yogurt in Dallas and Richardson is giving out free frozen yogurt in exchange for donated books.

“One book, one ounce,” said owner Ava Skipworth.

Customers can get up to five free ounces of frozen yogurt, one ounce for every book they donate.

Skipworth started the book drive soon after she opened Monster Yogurt 10 years ago. The frozen yogurt she’s given out is worth thousands, but she says reading is worth more.

“To me, you can do anything if you can read,” she said.

She says that’s the only reason she was able to become a small business owner. Skipworth is dyslexic and she says growing up, being unable to read was torturous.

That is until one teacher invested in her and helped her read.

“It changed my whole life,” Skipworth said.

That’s why she started the book drive and even put a free library outside the Richardson location.

She wants to change the lives of kids like her.

“I want them to be able to find joy in reading,” she said.

Customers who stop by anytime in February can give the joy of reading and get the joy of free frozen yogurt.
