DALLAS — A new stand-up comedy special has released on Netflix -- and it's the first on the service for Dallas' very own Ralph Barbosa

The comedian's new hour-long special, "Cowabunga," dropped on Halloween.

The description on Netflix states that Barbosa riffs on everything in the special from his street racing dream girl to his mother's lies about moon rocks.

On the 26-year-old's website, Barbosa describes himself as "one of the shyest attention hogs to ever do comedy" and says he employs a disarming, laid-back style.

Before recording his new special in August -- taped across a span of six sold-out shows at the Kessler Theater in Oak Cliff -- Barbosa made appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and on Comedy Central.

Barbosa also starred in an HBO Max comedy special last year called Entre Nos: The Winners 3," and has performed for Don't Tell Comedy.

He also won the the New York Latino Film Festival Stand-Up competition in 2021 and the Funniest Comic in Texas competition in 2019.

Although he is currently touring across the country, Barbosa will be returning to North Texas at the end of December, running a series of shows at the Addison Improv from Dec. 28 through Dec. 31 -- although, it should be said, all of the shows except for his Dec. 31 show have already sold out.
