DALLAS — Dallas Police Chief  U. Renee Hall fires an officer after several internal affairs investigations.

Assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division, Officer Cornelius Harris IV, gave false doctor's notes in order to receive a sick excused leave in September, October and November of 2016, according to Dallas police.

In 2017, police said Officer Harris "failed to perform a proper felony traffic stop." An investigation revealed Harris "used unnecessary and/or inappropriate force against a citizen during the same traffic stop." Harris created inaccurate information into a departmental report, police said.

In April of last year, a third Internal Affairs investigation against accused him of violating the restricted duty policy and on the same day, lied to a supervisor.

Officer Harris started in October 2014. He can appeal his discipline.
