Heat Advisory: Dangerous heat returns to North Texas

A Heat Advisory has been issued in North Texas for today and tomorrow, but will likely get extended into the weekend.

Yes, it is August. And yes, we expect triple digits this time of the year.

However, that doesn't mean the heat is not dangerous. A Heat Advisory has been issued for all of North Texas through Thursday evening.

This means afternoon heat index values will be between 105° and 110° in most places.

If you're outdoors and doing physical activity, you can quickly become dehydrated or suffer from heat-related illness.

If you have to be outdoors, make sure to have a way to stay cool, take breaks, and stay hydrated.

Please also remember the elderly, pets, and those without A/C. Also remember to check the backseat!

Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of our long overdue heatwave as we'll likely start a streak of triple digits the rest of the week lasting into the weekend and next week.
