Flash Flood Warnings and a Flood Watch

We need rain! But last night's caused flooding issues in some locations.

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of DFW and the western half of North Texas until Thursday morning.

Widespread, heavy rain moved across North Texas Wednesday night and caused flooding issues. Especially in low-lying and flood prone locations. Around 2in to 5in of rainfall is possible, but isolated locations could see higher amounts.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the heart of the DFW area until 7 a.m. with other Flash Flood Warnings in effect for parts of DFW and North Texas into the morning as well.

Use extreme caution if out and about late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning and do not drive into or through flooded roadways!

While this rain may not end the drought all across North Texas, it may make a serious dent for quite a few locations.

A few rain totals as of 6am Thursday

Thursday

Heavy rain from the overnight will be on the way out. Some lingering rain will be possible across North Texas through the morning rush, but a bulk of the rainfall will be east of the area.  Most of the day will be dry, but some spotty showers are possible during the afternoon.

Friday

Showers and storms will be possible again mainly during the afternoon into evening. Nothing looks overly heavy or severe, but could factor into Friday evening or night plans.

Rain timing

Here's a look at what the hour-by-hour radar could look like through Friday morning:

14-Day Forecast

You'll see all of these rain chances reflected in the 14-day forecast. The other thing you'll notice? Much cooler weather as we approach Halloween!

The exact timing of when that front pushes through is a little up in the air. Could be as early as Saturday afternoon, but also could hold off until Sunday as well. Either way, the coolest air of the season looks to arrive just in time for the end of the month and Halloween.
