Join us in laughing at these Facebook memes while the internet burns

As many of Facebook's nearly 3 billion users migrated over to other social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit, we all couldn't help but joke about the situation

DALLAS — If you're reading this, you probably didn't get here from Facebook. In that case, welcome! Thank you for visiting WFAA's Twitter page, searching for us on Google or, heck, visiting our actual website

You probably already know Facebook was reported down worldwide. Instagram and WhatsApp, too. Snapchat and Gmail are also acting wonky, and while we were all on Twitter for a full workday, that soon started acting up, as well. Facebook did not say what might be causing the outage, which began around 11:40 ET Monday.

As many of Facebook's nearly 3 billion users migrated over to other social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit, we all couldn't help but joke about the situation.

The social media giant was also on people's minds again this week because of the 11th anniversary of the film "The Social Network," a heavily Hollywood-ized account of Facebook's founding, and because of a Sunday night "60 Minutes" expose where a Facebook whistleblower said she has documentation that proves the company incentivizes "angry, polarizing, divisive content."

But the outage was all people were talking about on Twitter, Monday, and a lot of the memes were pretty funny. Here were some of the best ones we found today.

Twitter welcomed everyone:

The always-reliable "Airplane!" GIF:

On that note, we saw a lot of variations of this joke today:

Like death and taxes, Spirit Halloween will come for us all:

'Member MSN Messenger? Yahoo!? Tumblr?:

'Squid Game' fans got in on the joke too:

Is it the end of the world?

Turn around, bright eyes:

Some made jokes related to the pandemic:

Others wondered how this might all be used in a Sunday sermon next weekend:

And others just took the outage as an opportunity to make fun of Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg:

Got a funny joke or meme to share about the Facebook outage? Share it with us on Twitter. Or by emailing us at digital@wfaa.com. Or send it by snail mail. Carrier pigeon, maybe. I think I still have my AIM screenname and away message around here somewhere...
