HIGHLIGHTS: FC Dallas, Seattle draw 0-0, Toros extend winless streak to 6 games

FC Dallas enters the match against Seattle on a five-match winless streak.

FRISCO, Texas — After a month away from home, FC Dallas returned to Toyota Stadium on a five-game winless streak ... which extended to six.

The Toros drew one point in the standings after a scoreless draw with the Sounders, who are struggling at the start of the 2024 season in their own right. The draw gives FC Dallas five points on the season (1-4-2).

One of the major issues facing FC Dallas is a lack of scoring chances. The Frisco club ranks fourth worst in the league in Expected Goals (xG), and the scoring chances were not in abundance once again. Head coach Nico Estevez boiled the offensive struggles down to one thing: Lack of quality.

“Quality. A lot of quality. This is what I told the guys. But not only quality, technical execution on the shots because we had 12 shots, but only two were on target," Estevez said. "In the first half, most of the situations we had, they were open to shoot and they would pass. And then in the second half, most of the situations they should have passed, and then we shot."

Estevez said the club improved in certain areas that they were lacking, and they have to grow from there.

"We had better chances last week at St. Louis, now we have to prepare for Colorado and see if we can get those chances and score,” Estevez said.

Goalkeeper Maarten Paes said he thought the team started strong, but "the second half was a bit of chess game."

"It's always tough playing Seattle, they have very good players both attacking and defensive. A draw was deserved today, we just have to improve a little bit in the final third,” Paes said.

FC Dallas posted 0.9 xG, their fourth time under 1.0 in the first seven games of the season. Croatian striker Petar Musa has only scored one goal thus far in six matches played after signing for a club record deal. Jesus Ferreira also has not played in three games while nursing a hamstring injury.

Ferreira was initially supposed to return to the team on Sunday, but Estevez said they're moving that timeline back after Ferreira experienced soreness. Estevez has said in the past few weeks that they're taking Ferreira's injury with caution.

FC Dallas goes on the road again next weekend to take on the Colorado Rapids, who are coming off a 3-0 loss to San Jose.
