FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas announced Tuesday midfielder Paxton Pomykal would undergo season-ending knee surgery.

Pomykal's knee surgery will be performed by Dr. Bert Mandelbaum in Los Angeles in April to address cartilage damage in his left knee. An update on Pomykal’s recovery will be provided upon completion of the surgery, club officials said.

“Paxton is such an important part of our club,” said FC Dallas Sporting Director André Zanotta. “While losing him for the 2024 season is a setback, he’s a mature, dedicated player whose focus will be on supporting the team and remaining a part of everything we do this year.”

Pomykal played in one match this season: Six minutes in the club's 2-1 loss to CF Montréal. In 2023, Pomykal appeared in 24 matches, started in 19 of those 24 and logged three assists.

Pomykal debuted for FC Dallas in 2017 and has recorded four goals and 15 assists in 127 career MLS matches. Pomykal, a Lewisville native, has been called up to the United States men's national team (USMNT) for three appearances since 2019.

FC Dallas is set to take on Texas rival, Austin FC, on Saturday, March 30 at Q2 Stadium.
