It's hard to go wrong with Pudge and pizza.
Maybe that's why the former Rangers' Hall of Fame catcher is getting his own restaurant at the Texas Live! entertainment complex by the club's new ballpark.
Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez announced plans Wednesday for his first restaurant, "Pudge's Pizza," which is set to open Aug. 9.
Pudge also revealed the name of a few menu items: The "Vega Baja," Pudge's hometown in Puerto Rico; the "20-20," a nod to Pudge's 1999 MVP season, when he joined the 20-20 club with 35 home runs and 25 stolen bases; and "The Texas Slinger," because when you win 13 Gold Gloves at catcher, a nickname like that is fitting.
Lockhart Smokehouse, PBR Texas and Troy Aikman's Troy's bar and restaurant are among the other restaurants planned for the Texas Live! project.
The new stadium, Globe Life Field, is under construction and should open in time for the 2020 season.
