Jason Witten signs four-year extension with Cowboys

The deal would keep Witten, a 14-year veteran and career Cowboy, in Dallas through 2021.

Jason Witten has signed a four-year extension with the Dallas Cowboys, according to an ESPN report later confirmed by the team.

The deal would keep Witten, a 14-year veteran and career Cowboy, in Dallas through 2021.

ESPN Dallas’ Todd Archer reports the contract maxes out at $29.6 million and doesn’t include any more guaranteed money.

Witten, who turns 35 in May, has started every single game for the Cowboys since 2007. He’s the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions, and needs just 17 yards to become its all-time leader in receiving yards. He’s also nine touchdowns shy of the franchise record held by Bob Hayes.

The 10-time Pro-Bowler was scheduled to make $7.4 million in 2017 and count just over $12 million against the cap, according to contracts database Spotrac.
