MCKINNEY, Texas — Grab your best paddle -- the pickleball craze is far from over.

The city of McKinney will be getting a large-scale indoor pickleball and badminton facility early next year. The state-of-the-art sports facility will be located at 8800 Silverado Trail. It's about 1.5 miles away from another pickleball and tennis court.

The Pickleball and Badminton Academy of America said the highly anticipated sports venue will feature top-of-the-line courts for both badminton and pickleball, catering to athletes of all ages and skill levels. It will also feature cricket lanes.

“We’re breaking ground in McKinney on a fantastic new facility, bringing the fast-growing sports of badminton and pickleball to our community, and I’m thrilled about the launch of this new state-of-the-art sports facility in early 2025,” said Kumar Adusumilli, manager of Pickleball and Badminton Academy of America.

The new facility will host various programs, including beginner classes, advanced training sessions, local tournaments and recreational play.

Specific details such as operation hours and training classes cost were not immediately released.

"As construction progresses, more details about the facility’s features and grand opening events will be announced," the academy said.

In addition to offering world-class courts, up to 30 new employment opportunities will be available over the next three years.

The facility is set to open its doors in February 2025.
