Wills Point ISD teacher resigns pending investigation into allegations of online solicitation of a minor, the district says

The district said she resigned Wednesday.

WILLS POINT, Texas — A Wills Point ISD spokesperson says a staff member is no longer employed with the district pending an investigation into allegations of online solicitation of a minor.

The district notified parents and staff on Monday, but she has not yet been charged. WFAA is not naming the woman at this time because of that.

In the note sent to parents and staff, the district said,” [The teacher] is no longer allowed to have contact with Wills Point ISD students, be on Wills Point ISD property, or attend any Wills Point ISD events/extracurricular activities.”

On Wednesday, WFAA was given another note that was sent to parents indicating she no longer worked for the school. A spokesperson with the district said she resigned.

“I don’t know how I would handle it if it were my child,” said a Wills Point mother. She wanted to remain anonymous because her two sons are students at the high school.

The district said they are working with Kaufman Police to determine an exact timeline of when the event occurred.

“It could’ve been my kids, I don’t know if I feel like my kids are safe,” the mother said.

The district said it will continue to investigate the allegations and take any and all appropriate actions at the end of the investigation. Transparency and student safety are top priorities for the district.

The mother said she appreciates the district's swift action regarding this situation.

“I hope that she gets the worst punishment possible," she said.

A spokesperson with the district said charges could be filed soon.
