GRAPEVINE, Texas — Grapevine police arrested three men early Friday following a chase, and believe the trio may be connected to a recent string of robberies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Around 3:00 a.m., two officers were near a 7-Eleven at 1700 William D. Tate Avenue in Grapevine when the suspects walked in with their faces covered, according to police.
That's when the officers saw the clerk put his hands up, the police department said. As the officers approached the entrance, the suspects ran out of the store.
One suspect ran away, while the two others jumped into a car and drove off. The men then led officers in a chase that ended in an Irving neighborhood, Grapevine PD said.
Three of them jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a neighborhood. One suspect threw a backpack over a fence containing a loaded gun and cash as an officer caught up to him.
Irving police and a K9 were able to track down the suspects and the vehicle used during the pursuit. Police said the vehicle was reportedly stolen out of Dallas.
The suspect who ran away from the 7-Eleven in Grapevine was arrested nearby, police said.
The suspects -- ages 17, 18 and 19 -- face charges for aggravated robbery. A 15-year-old girl was also taken into custody, but was later released to her parents.
Grapevine police are working to determine if the three suspects are connected to any other crimes in the area.
