Raw video: Police cruiser flips multiple times after car crash in St. Louis

Police did not share the health status of the two officers.

ST. LOUIS — Two St. Louis police officers were temporarily hospitalized after a crash near Olive and 20th streets on Sunday afternoon, the city's police department said.

Officers from the city's fourth district were responding to a call for aid on Euclid Avenue in the Central West End, officials said. The officers were then involved in a department crash in the area on their way there.

In surveillance video obtained by 5 On Your Side, a police cruiser with its lights on can be seen colliding with another car at the intersection of Olive and 20th streets. The force of the crash caused the cruiser to flip several times and slide several feet down the road.

The two officers were transported to the hospital as a result of the accident, officials said. Officials said they have since been released from the hospital.

5 On Your Side journalists saw around 10 police vehicles at the Barnes Jewish Hospital's emergency entrance ~10 minutes after the crash was reported.

This is the latest in a series of crashes involving department cruisers in the past few weeks. Last month, a department vehicle overturned after blowing a stop sign and colliding with another on Sarah Street in north city. Less than a week later, an officer crashed into Bar PM on South Broadway.

Sunday's crash happened just hours before Monday night's big Public Safety Town Hall Meeting, where St. Louis leaders will share their plan to handle crime in 2024.

The meeting will go from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, located at 1408 N. Kingshighway Blvd.

Police Chief Robert Tracy, Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore, Board of Aldermen President Megan Green and other city officials will be there to answer questions. They're expected to also give an update on the state of public safety in St. Louis and the solutions being implemented to make our neighborhoods safer.
