ARLINGTON, Texas — A pedestrian died Tuesday from his injuries two weeks after he was hit by a vehicle in a crash near the intersection of Park Row Drive and Susan Drive on Dec. 18, police say.

Arlington police say a Mazda 6 that was turning left from Park Row Drive onto Susan Drive crashed into a Honda Civic shortly after 9 p.m. Dec. 18, and the impact caused the Civic to veer off the roadway and hit the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital, where he remained until his death Jan. 2, according to police. The pedestrian has not been identified, pending identification by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police say the driver of the Mazda 6, Paula Cely-Bernal, 25, left the scene and did not attempt to render aid and was arrested later after officers found the vehicle at a nearby apartment complex. Cely-Bernal was arrested on a complaint of an accident involving serious bodily injury, which police say will be updated to an accident involving death.

The driver of the Civic stayed on scene, called 911, and is not facing any charges in connection with the crash, police say.

This is a developing story. We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
