Wednesday's Child 15-year-old Aubrey wants to be adopted by a rock music-loving family who will support her love of singing

Aubrey says singing is where she escapes to find peace and to find herself.

FORT WORTH, Texas — For Wednesday's Child 15-year-old Aubrey, this New Year is a new opportunity to show her true colors in a forever home!

"In a new home I would share my love of different fictional characters and I would put on wacky makeup, even sometimes dress as a clown," she told WFAA recently at the Ogle School of Cosmetology and Beauty in Fort Worth.

Aubrey wanted a makeover for the New Year.

Aubrey likes rock music, punk hairstyles and bright flashy makeup. She says she's weird and wants a family who will like that about her.

"I would love to have like a metal head family that's like really into metal and like rock," she said.

Seriously, a family that's into music would make Aubrey's heart sing.

"I love to sing," she said.

Singing is where Aubrey escapes to find peace and to find herself.

When asked what is the one song she loves to sing out loud, she said "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. She even sang a part of the song.

Aubrey told WFAA what an Empire State of Mind means to her.

"To have a powerful, strong mind. Almost like the city of New York. Big and very important," she said bright-eyed. Instantly, her shyness disappeared and she spoke with authority about the song because Aubrey was describing herself.

She has an Empire State of Mind.

"Thank you," she said with tears running down her face. Aubrey needed a gentle reminder of how much she matters in this world and how the right family will love her true colors.

And with tears coming down her face, Aubrey said she is filled with a renewed hope of finding a Forever Family in 2024.

"All I want is a family. I just want a loving, caring kind family that will take me in and keep me as their own."
