Off-duty Fort Worth police detective arrested on complaints of assault, interfering with an emergency call, FWPD confirms

The off-duty detective was arrested Wednesday by Rhome police, Fort Worth police say.

FORT WORTH, Texas — An off-duty Fort Worth police detective was arrested Wednesday by Rhome police on complaints of interfering with an emergency call and assault causing bodily injury stemming from a domestic violence incident, the Fort Worth Police department confirmed.

The detective, identified as Dusty Dwyer, is being placed on restricted duty and “stripped of all police powers during the course of the ongoing criminal and administrative investigations,” Fort Worth police say. The department says it’s begun an administrative investigation into the incident.

Dwyer has been with the department for nine years and was assigned to the criminal investigations division at the time of his arrest, the department confirmed.

“The Fort Worth Police Department holds its officers to a high standard on and off duty, therefore, a thorough investigation to collect and review the facts and the circumstances of these allegations will be conducted,” the department said in a press release.
