Several school districts north of DFW delay classes due to slick roads

The Sherman, Pottsboro, Denison, and Muenster school districts were among those delaying classes until 10 a.m. Monday, giving students and staff extra time.

DALLAS — Most of North Texas saw rain overnight into Monday morning. But some of the areas on the northern side of the region also woke up to slick roads, causing school delays to start the week.

The Sherman, Pottsboro, Denison, and Muenster school districts were among those delaying classes until 10 a.m. Monday, giving students and staff extra time on potentially slick roads.

Most of Dallas-Fort Worth stayed just above freezing through the night, but colder temps further to the north and northeast led to some reports of freezing rain and icy roads.

The Paris, Collinsville, Sivells Bend and S&S Cons school districts were also delaying classes by two hours.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND DELAYS

No closings or delays in North Texas' four main counties were being reported Monday morning. Roads were wet across Dallas-Fort Worth but ice was not an issue for the most populous areas of North Texas.

Temperatures were expected to warm up through the day Monday, with highs into the 40s and low 50s. Then we'll just be in for more widespread rain throughout the week.

Daily rain chances are on the forecast for this week. There will be plenty of dry hours, and some days have better chances than others. But there is at least a chance of rain each day next week. Total accumulations are expected to be in the 1"-2" range. Some areas southeast of the metroplex could even pick up 4" or more.
