Texas girl identified by family after being dropped off at emergency room, officials say

The girl was dropped off at the center's emergency room on Monday, possibly by her mother, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

DALLAS — The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) says family members have come forward to identify a little girl who was dropped off at an emergency room earlier this week.

The department said on Tuesday, someone dropped off a girl saying her name is Alejandra at the Baylor University Medical Center at 3500 Gaston Avenue in Dallas. This is near the Deep Ellum neighborhood and southeast of Exall Park.

The girl was dropped off at the center's emergency room on Monday, Dec. 4 possibly by her mother, according to DFPS. She reportedly wasn't able to tell officials any identifying information to find relatives. She is believed to be six years old, the department said.

She is currently in the care of DFPS, as officials explore options for placing her with the family members that helped identify her Thursday. A hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 14.

This is an ongoing situation. We will provide updates as we find out more information.
