President Joe Biden arrives on Air Force One at Harry Reid International Airport, Tuesday March 19, 2024, in Las Vegas, for campaign events.

DALLAS — President Joe Biden is coming to Dallas for two campaign fundraisers, and security around the visit is likely to impact traffic.

The U.S. Secret Service didn’t release specific route details for security reasons, but says they work with local law enforcement to “minimize disruptions to the public while ensuring the highest level of safety and security.”

“For security reasons, we are unable to release specific motorcade routes in advance, but the public can expect intermittent road closures and parking restrictions as part of the visit,” a Secret Service spokesperson said.

Biden arrived at DFW Airport shortly after 5:30 p.m.  followed by a reception shortly after 6 p.m. at the Dallas home of the co-founder of a private equity firm.

Biden’s last Wednesday stop was another reception at 8 p.m. hosted by prominent local attorneys.

Air Force One is expected to depart from DFW Airport shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, en route to Houston, where Biden will attend another campaign reception.

It’s notable that Air Force One landed at DFW Airport. The last time a U.S. President used North Texas' large international airport was July 2014, when President Barack Obama visited.

The White House often uses Dallas Love Field because it has Fixed-Base Operators - or FBOs - that maintain private terminals on the east side of the air field.

This is a developing story. WFAA will update this story as additional information becomes available.
