DALLAS — Eight vehicles were "consumed" by a fire at a North Dallas apartment parking garage Friday morning, officials said.
One person was treated at the scene, but no other injuries were reported.
The incident was reported around 6:40 a.m. at the Village on the Green apartments parking garage in the 5300 block of Alpha Road, on the northeast side of the Galleria Dallas mall.
Firefighters responded and found "heavy black smoke pouring" from an upper floor of the parking garage, according to a release from Dallas Fire-Rescue.
Crews learned that the source of the fire was the vehicles, not the building, and they extinguished the blaze. Officials said eight vehicles were consumed by the fire, and there was also some damage to the walls of the parking garage.
Investigators believed that the fire started in one vehicle and then spread to others in the garage. The exact cause of the fire was not yet known.
An apartment complex official confirmed the fire but declined to comment further.
