Man hit and killed after falling onto I-30 in Dallas, officials say

Officials shut down westbound I-30 and diverted traffic to I-45 while they investigated the crash. The highway re-opened shortly before 6 a.m.

DALLAS — A man was hit and killed by a vehicle after falling off a road and onto Interstate 30 in downtown Dallas on Wednesday morning, officials said.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on I-30 at Cesar Chavez Boulevard, according to a news release from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said an older man fell from Cesar Chavez - which crosses over I-30 - and onto the highway, where he was hit by a vehicle. The driver who hit the man stayed at the scene and waited for deputies to get there.

The victim's name has not been release. Officials are not filing charges against the driver of the vehicle.
