Man killed while street racing in Dallas, police say

Police said a sedan was street racing another vehicle when it lost control, crossed the center median and crashed into an SUV.

DALLAS — A man died Thursday evening in a crash after street racing in western Dallas, police said.

The Dallas Police Department said the crash happened at approximately 11:10 p.m. Thursday in the 4700 block of West Davis Street. According to police, the man who died was driving a sedan eastbound on West Davis Street and street racing another vehicle. The sedan lost control, crossed the center median and crashed into an SUV, police said.

After the initial crash, a truck crashed into the SUV, as well.

The man driving the sedan died at the scene, according to police. The occupants of the truck were not seriously injured, police said, and the driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner will later identify the man who died, DPD said.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
