DUNCANVILLE, Texas -- Police arrested the gunman who allegedly opened fire at a Pappadeaux restaurant Tuesday night.
Duncanville police said they arrested Roderick Lamond Rodgers, 31, DeSoto, Texas, on Thursday. He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Rodgers is in custody, but the bond has not been set. He awaits arraignment.
Police were called to the restaurant off of South Cockrell Hill Road shortly before 10 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene they found two men with gunshot wounds.
Both victims were taken to Methodist Central Hospital, according to Doug Sisk, the public information officer for the Duncanville Police Department.
Sisk said the incident appears to stem from a domestic situation but the investigation is still ongoing.
One victim was shot one time and underwent surgery -- they are in stable condition. The second victim was shot multiple times and is also in stable condition.
Police said Rodgers left the scene with a female in an unknown vehicle.
Many people were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting, on Mardi Gras and one day before Valentine's Day.
Eyewitnesses at the scene took to social media to share photos of what happened.
Summer Galvez, posted a video on Twitter that showed blood spatter and broken pieces of glass on the floor, chairs flipped over. Multiple people at the scene said they heard the gunshots.
Galvez caught up with WFAA Wednesday afternoon and called the whole situation terrifying.
"I was crawling to safety through a wet restaurant, in the middle of gunfire," Galvez said. "You gotta thank God that there weren't more victims and that there weren't any fatalities."
"I'm just glad we were able to get out of there as quickly as we did," she said.
Galvez spent her afternoon with her therapist at Harmony CDC, and said that more people should reach out for help if they need to vent.
"Seeking help that may include counseling and medication can assist an individual to heal and be restored through a traumatic experience and lead a healthy normal life," Dr. Brenda RIchardson said.
Galvez is hoping the incident doesn't create a stigma for the town.
Alicia Davis, a nursing student at El Centro College, was celebrating her 8th anniversary with her husband when the shooting happened.
She saw one of the victims on the floor bleeding and jumped into action.
"It was absolute chaos," Davis said. "There was a guy that had been shot in the arm, so I made a tourniquet out of a napkin and waited until first responders got there."
Tyler Atkins, a former cop and son of Dallas Councilman Tennell Atkins, was in the restaurant with a friend when he heard gunfire.
"You heard like 6 to 8 gunshots," Atkins said. "This guy wasn't trying to scare people like shoot up in the air--he was trying to kill them...and he didn't care what happened."
