Custom vintage couture, a rug from the White House: A behind-the-scenes look at the epic estate sale now open in Dallas

Marilyn Hoffman was a renowned luxury real estate broker in Dallas and passed away earlier this year.

DALLAS — A shopper and collector's dream sale starts this weekend in Dallas, and you can expect a long, long line.

Dallas Estate Sellers is hosting a large estate sale at Marilyn Hoffman's home. Hoffman was a prominent luxury realtor who sold extraordinary estates worldwide. She passed earlier this year.

"You’ll find original vintage pieces, Halston pieces, Oscar de la Renta…" her daughter, Gina Miller, told WFAA of the vintage 80s fashion that will be available. "Stamps, coins, jewelry and various collectibles."

Hoffman's home is full of incredible treasures, antique china, crystal, equestrian themed art, custom vintage couture, even a rug believed to be from the White House treaty room.

"She just kept collecting she was not one to divest of things as I think you can tell from the house," Miller giggled.

For shoppers, the home is a paradise of items they want and items they didn't know they did.

"It's 500 dollars," said Jelly Vanderwoude, examining an oil painting. "Would my husband kill me if I bought it home? Maybe. But I kind of love it."

Vanderwoude waited for two hours in line to get into the estate sale Thursday morning.

Hoffman coveted her collectibles so much, Miller believes her mother would want others to enjoy them too. At 9 a.m. Thursday, everything left in her estate will be available for purchase. And people are expected to flock from all over.

"Oh my God I’m getting calls from New Jersey, I’m getting calls from Washington, Oregon," Jose Tamayo of Dallas Estate Sellers said.

Marilyn’s clothing is the largest collection the company has ever sold.

"This house has something for everyone," Elilah Soto, also with Dallas Estate Sellers, said.

The 1920s Tudor-style home has hosted epic parties over the years and is a sight to see in itself.

"She was an '80s party girl," Gina remembered fondly. "We had the Dallas ballet perform here in our front yard in the '80s...she had quite the circle from Larry Hagman to Wayne Newton to Elizabeth Taylor."

The highly-anticipated sale, Miller said, is really a tribute to Hoffman.

"My mother would love that people have an appreciation and love for what it is she owned," Miller said. "Because she really did think everything was so special."

The woman known for selling magnificent estates, she added, would want us to enjoy all the magnificent things in hers.

"I know she will absolutely love that people are experiencing this property, and then taking her converted treasures and enjoying them as much as she did."
