Bedford woman speaks out after being punched and held at gunpoint

A Bedford woman is one of many females targeted in recent aggravated robberies. Police are searching for two suspects.

BEDFORD, Texas — It's often part of a routine: You drive home, park your car and walk inside your home. But Bedford police are warning people to not get too comfortable and to always stay aware of your surroundings.

Since mid-January, there have been three reports of aggravated robberies at Bedford apartment complexes.

"This is a crime of opportunity," Lt. Mike Hager said. "We've been made aware that this is also happening in surrounding agencies."

Bedford detectives are working with Fort Worth police and Euless police to see if similar cases are connected.

Wipawan Wannaruk is the most recent victim. She lives at an apartment complex on the 2500 block of Meadow Park Circle. Wannaruk got home Tuesday night around 10:20 p.m. She said no one else was in the parking lot.

She got out of the driver's side and walked over to the passenger's side of her vehicle to grab her purse. That's when she saw two men approach her.

"They said don't run. 'I have a gun. I will shoot you,'" she recalled.

Wannaruk said she fell to the ground and one man punched her in the left eye, then pointed his handgun at her forehead.

They stole her purse, her necklace and several other items before taking off.

"Our concern is always that it could escalate," Hager said.

The police are asking residents to report any suspicious activity and help put the two suspects behind bars.
