DALLAS — DeSoto police say a 27-year-old Arlington woman who was reported missing last week has been found and is safe.

According to a news release, Amber Garcia was briefly taken into DeSoto police custody for a misdemeanor on Dec. 1, then was released later that day.

Police said Garcia's mother started receiving phone calls and text messages on Dec. 3 that suggested Garcia was being held for ransom. Her mother contacted Arlington Police, but the case went to DeSoto PD since that's where Garcia was last seen.

At about 5 p.m. on Dec. 7, DeSoto PD said Garcia was found and was being reunited with her family. Details surrounding her location or disappearance have not been released.
