North Texas home destroyed in fire possibly due to lightning strike, officials say

Emergency officials say no one was in the home when the fire happened, but the house itself is a "total loss."

ARGYLE, Texas — A home in Denton County has been deemed a "total loss" after a lightning strike possibly started a fire Monday night, officials said.

The fire happened at about 10 p.m. in the 900 block of Stonecrest Road in Argyle, according to Denton Co. Emergency Services District #1.

An official told WFAA that no one was in the home during the fire, so no one was injured.

They also said the house was fully engulfed in flames by the time first responders arrived.

Lightning is believed to be the cause of the fire, but that's under investigation. Severe storms were moving through North Texas early Tuesday morning, and more storms were expected later in the day.

No other information is available at this time.
