Fort Worth business catches fire during storms

Crews were responding to an elevator rescue when they saw fire coming from the MaKumba night club and grill.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Firefighters were responding to another call when they noticed a fire at a south Fort Worth business early Monday morning.

Firefighters were initially responding to an elevator rescue when they saw a fire at the MaKumba Night Club and Grill in the 6300 block of South Freeway, near I-35W and Altamesa Boulevard.

No one was injured, officials said.

Crews began to put out the fire, but it sparked again, causing the front part of the building to collapse. That's when firefighters went to a defensive mode.

Fort Worth Fire Department said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but officials said it could be weather-related with a downed power line in the area.
