GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — A 21-year-old man is accused of shooting at someone during a robbery at a Grand Prairie check cashing business and then fleeing from police in a stolen car, police said.

Tahj Pinson faces felony charges of aggravated robbery, evading arrest in a vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Pinson is accused of pointing a handgun at someone around 9:40 a.m. Sunday outside PLS Checking in the 2500 block of Carrier Parkway. Pinson demanded money and shot at the person when the person started to walk away, Grand Prairie police said.

Pinson drove off, but the victim followed long enough to tell police which direction Pinson was headed, officials said.

The accused robber drove to another PLS Checking in Dallas. Grand Prairie officers tried to pull him over, but Pinson drove off, police said.

During the police chase, officers saw Pinson throw something out the window. Investigators later found a .40 caliber handgun they believe Pinson threw out of the window and had used during the robbery, officials said.

Pinson surrendered to officers. Investigators discovered the car Pinson was driving had been stolen.

Detectives are investigating whether Pinson is connected to other cases.
